December 2006 Entries

Ok, so I got Where's Chuck Norris as a domain name and I got a new 12 gallon nano saltwater fish tank. I think I'm going to do some major automation / monitoring with it and have it all filter into that. I'll post more about it when I have more running and actually got a fish (who shall be named Chuck Norris) in it. Right now the tank is cycling.

So I am helping my buddy set up his new computer and we just installed Vista on it. I have to say it does have a lot of cool features that if you've used OS X, you'd miss with XP. I love Alt-Tab now showing a running mini-version of the app along with Window Key-Tab's 3D version. There is also a mini-version if you hover over the start bar item. Really neat stuff. I actually am rather suprised. Now only if they gave me a free pre-loaded Vista laptop.

Now back to installing. Can't wait til Mac Pro goes quad-core and OS 10.5 is offically released and bootcamp supports Vista.

Joystiq posted about the Holiday guide I wrote over that Coding4Fun.

I find it really funny they said the entire guide is Microsoft-centric. Yes there are a few Microsoft items (only 7) but in all, it is all about hacking / programming.

With that, time for me to get back to my MS fanboy-isms.

I'm writting another article for Microsoft's Coding4Fun, this time in Christmas flavor.

You have an Amazon Wishlist? Want to know what you got? That's right, I'm writing the "Amazon Grinch Gift Guesser".

Progress so far? Let me just say, doing this all in javascript would have made my life SO much easier but instead I'm doing it through web services with no node tree manipulation for me.

Things I still need to do for the article:

  1. Don't return items I already got.
  2. Get Package / Item Sizing.
  3. Add in item size restriction code.
  4. And most important, write the article.

So I've been poking around my blackjack's system and found the "\Application Data\Home " folder.

While I haven't played with any settings yet, I think I've found how to customize my screen. Lets see if I can add in tasks on it.

I just finished up writing the Holiday Gift Guide for Coding4Fun.

If anyone wants to get me anything on their, namely the Optimus mini three keyboard, some 22+ inch widescreen monitors, a make controller, a PC-Bot, Cellphone, the GPS logger, Webcam, some Wii Remotes, and let us not forget a new Media Center PC.

I finally broke down and got a new cellphone. A Samsung Blackjack.

Still not use to it totally yet however I do have one beef already. The main screen. Let me customize that crap.

1> Why isn't the time/date in the header bar
2> Why isn't my txt messages higher up in the list
3> Gimme small icons. I'm not blind, I don't need icons that are clear what they do taking up that much screen real estate.
4> Syncing isn't totally correct (Contacts are on SIM, not all email is coming over correctly)
5> Think the way I had old phone numbers in my Razr isn't properly mapping or the fact they are on the SIM right now is causing errors when text messanging.

Update
4> Figured out the email part. Not sure still on the contacts still. Seriously believe since they are on the SIM right now.
Adding 6 however.

6> Texting is weird. No predictive name on the name. Furthmore I'll say the texting style is non-standard. Any cell I've had does message first then contacts. This does it the other way. Took me a solid few messages to get this right.

Internet is down, they deny it. * shakes fist *

How else am I going to read all that spam-ertisements?
